Prayer Works

This is a story of young Yinka Baboye, a boy dealing with his life threatening sickness with faith and courage. His family printed a batch of prayer cards to hand out in their neighborhood, greatly enabled by someone who helped to produce 100,000 cards free. Each card had a picture of the sick boy plus a description of what he was dealing with and how he was handling it with praise and courage.

One day near the end of Yinka's life, his mother, Shade, wondered why, with all of these prayer cards in circulation and with so many people praying for Yinka, God had not healed the little boy. Yinka replied his mum, "Mother, I am sure that God is using those prayer cards, just not the way you want Him to."

Those words came rushing back to mind one day when Shade's telephone rang not long after Yinka had died of the illnes. The man on the other end of the line said he had made up his mind to end his marriage which had become so uninspiring and boring, when he came across one of Yinka's prayer cards lying on his colleague's table in the office. He couldn't believe what he was reading - a young teenage boy fighting for his life but more full of faith and perseverance than most people who have their whole lives ahead of them.

He left work that day with a new resolve not to give up on his marriage, but to do all possible to make it work. God had used a sick child's faith to  heal a sick marriage - the same God who assured us in His Word that all things are possible. Especially when it comes to prayer.

Is there someone you know who needs to hear Yinka's story? Or what are your own deepest, biggest personal prayer concerns today? Is it a job, health, marriage, fruit of the womb, financial issues, troublesome children etc.?

Be assured, prayer works. Never stop praying. Only eternity will reveal all God has done with your prayers.
