Be Responsible!
Having responsibility is just what it sounds like: having the ability to respond.
It means we can affect a situation. Maybe not a lot. But some. Virtually everywhere in life, we can start doing things we aren't currently doing. We can stop doing things we are doing. Or we can start interpreting events differently.
Those are all responses. They may not give us what we want, but they are the ability to respond. If you are ever in a situation where you doubt you have choice, just imagine what Jesus would do. Then imagine what The Terminator would do. See? You have got at least two choices right there.
Although you have responsibility, no one can give you more. But you can always take responsibility, which is a completely separate beast from having responsibility to begin with.
Taking responsibility is a purely mental thing. It means you decide that your actions can affect an outcome. You can take responsibility for anything, no matter how much (or little) you can affect it.
When you are next pondering on what to do in a situation, dig deep and ask yourself what in your life and business you hold dear. You may not have the authority. No one may be holding you accountable. But take that responsibility, and start musing over how your actions can have an affect. Perhaps all you can do is a tiny nudge here or there. That's fine, just take responsibility.
I hope you will begin to do great things from this week as you Take Responsibility. Happy New Month of May.
