Where have the Leaders gone to?

Leadership is not a title or a position, even where elected. Leadership is always earned - over time. So, it takes time to earn the right to be called a Leader.

Leadership is not the same thing as being popular or having so many followers on Social Media, most of who are computer generated contacts not “followers” by the way.

Now what do you need to do to truly lead?

VISION
First, you must have a Vision. What is your vision? It is true that “Where there is no vision, the people perish”. You really cannot be leading people, where you don’t know where you are heading yourself. Vision is the most significant starting point for leadership development in my view. It is about compass (direction), not clock (who got there first).

COMMUNICATION
Next, you must be able to communicate that vision in a way that would attract followers who buy into your vision. This is necessary, because no matter how gifted or equipped you are, no one person can achieve more than a group of motivated people with complimentary skills and gifting.

PASSION & INTEGRITY
You must have Intense determination to achieve your vision. People hear with their eyes. They don’t hear what you say. They “see” what you say, as a Leader must recognize that he has little or no ‘secret’. The passion and integrity you display is what energizes the team behind your vision.


Leadership really is a Test of Purpose. Leaders seek what is right, not what is easy. They show courage and patience in times of crisis, and honor legitimate obligations even when circumstances change and it becomes difficult.

But above all...

Here is the test of a leader:

When he or she leaves office or the “position”, we the followers, the family, business, church and indeed nation should be better off than when they started.

It is that simple.

True Leaders know that it is not about them. It is about making the world a better place.

The leaders are reading my thoughts this moment. You are the leader you are looking for. Do not settle for your status, even if you are already leading successfully, because your last success is your greatest enemy.
