It Matters ... a reproduction of PAY ATTENTION by Ayo Daniels
It Matters!
Those who accomplish great things pay attention to little ones.
A story is told of a "man taking a morning walk at the beach. He saw that along with the morning tide came hundreds of starfish. When the tide receded, they were left behind. Knowing that they would die, if the sun arose while they were lying ashore, the man took a few steps, picked one and threw it into the water. He went to the next and did the same and so on. One after the other he kept throwing them back into the water.
Right behind him, there was another person who couldn’t understand what this man was doing. He caught up with him and asked, “What are you doing? There are hundreds of starfish. How many can you help? What difference does it make?” This man did not reply, took two more steps, picked up another one, threw it into the water, and said, “It makes a difference to this one.”
This week, you don't have to be great to make a difference. You have to make a difference to be great.
Those who change the world think globally and act locally. The secret to making a great meal is to pay careful attention to the small details or tweaks.
As the old saying goes, "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link." Big things are made up of small things. And yes, sometimes a big vision appears impossible for you to achieve. But "if you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way". Pay close attention to your task or duties, be meticulous and be sure to do big things in some small great ways!
