Finding True Love

My Thoughts this week is inspired by a question that I was asked recently on a "Relationship Management Tips" page I manage on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/Relationship-Management-Tips-Male-Female-Relationships-162094773875558/

A follower of the page asked, "How do I know a man has my best intentions at heart?"

Now that is a tough one, but here is the answer I gave her while please feel free to share your own tips too.

Not everyone has your best interests at heart. Sadly, sometimes we are tricked and mislead by the wrong lovers once or twice in our life in search of our soul mate.

Only way to know in my view is to find out, while holding on to the fact that the alternate to getting it right is really learning, and not failure.

Either way, never regret knowing someone. Everyone you encounter teaches you something important.  Some will test you, some will use you, and some will teach you; but most importantly some will bring out the best in you.

People can easily be insincere with their words. When someone truly loves you, they don’t have to say a word.  You should be able to tell simply by the way they treat you over the years. Remember, actions speak much louder than words.

One of the most difficult tasks in life is removing someone from your heart, but please remember, no relationship is a waste of time.  I believe the wrong ones teach you the lessons that prepare you for the right ones.

Now, as you seek that right person, a lot of responsibility falls on you too from the excerpts eloquently espoused by Michelle Barack Obama reproduced here verbatim, "Even if you meet the perfect person, the relationship will still require real effort. Everyone wants to be in love until it requires a real sacrifice. If you are not willing to compromise, love is not for you. If you are not willing to make sacrifices now for the greater good later, love is not for you. If you only want to be with someone on your own terms, love is not for you. If you can't put someone else's needs before your own every once in a while, love is not for you. If you are not emotionally healed from previous or current relationships, love is not for you."

I pray that God helps all that are searching to find bone of their bone and flesh of their flesh. I pray also that those in troubled relationships, particularly the married would find new reasons to re-ignite their love and passion for each other. Remember, true love is Agape, which is unconditional and sacrificial.
